How where slaves disadvantaged compared too the average citizen
Living conditions
If you were lucky you would live in hovels of perhaps 2 rooms with thatched Roofs. but most lived in paddocks and on the streets only to return as a slave in the morning. the average person would have a small house/some with tiled roofs, and would have had the basic furniture needs. If you were lucky enough to be rich you would have a large wooden houses arranged around a courtyard. Roofs were typically of tiles.However even in a rich house there was little furniture but rich people were very fond of their gardens.
Food
Slaves would have a very simple diet that would consist of rice, pork and duck. if they where lucky enough to have such a diet they would not have his in great quantities leaving them hungry,however they were given enough to survive because what would be the point of having a slave that is to weak to do anything or even possibly dead? The rich in Ancient China ate very well. They ate grains like rice, wheat and millet. They also ate plenty of meat including pork, chicken, duck, goose, pheasant and dog. Vegetables included yams, soy beans, broad beans and turnip as well as spring onions and garlic.
Clothing
Slaves in ancient china had a very simple uniform that most wore according to the dynasty they were in. the out fit consisted of linen shirts, pants, overcoat and woolen hat. the clothing was kept simple so that they could be identified easily when amongst other citizens or if they did manages to escape. The people of higher status wore clothes made of silk.Silk garments were generally long robes. They could be dyed specific colors or with fancy designs.
Jobs
Slaves in ancient china worked on many different jobs that include building the great wall of china, standardizing roads and transport links and they also worked on farms and paddocks. Some also fought in war after being trained for several months. ordinary people did jobs like making weapons for war, some farmed also but overall they had much greater freedom than the slaves.
